Health Insurance Grants and Equitable Compensation

As we navigate the changing landscape of our ministry, I wanted to bring to your attention some crucial updates that may impact your church’s financial planning and support.

This year, during our Annual Conference, the delegates representing our churches voted to enact a change in the funding structure for health insurance concerning full-time appointments. This change will shift the financial responsibility for health insurance costs to both the participant and the church. For a more detailed understanding of this change, please refer to the FAQ document from the Annual Conference, which is available [here].

During this Charge Conference season, as I’ve had the privilege of traveling throughout the Southern District, one of the recurring topics of discussion has been the financial resources available to full-time churches. Some churches will experience a net increase in expenses when adding health insurance costs and apportionments. To help offset these additional expenses, there are specific funds that your church can apply for.

Posted below you will find the application for these funds, which are designed to assist churches in managing the transition over the next three years effectively.

Additionally, I want to draw your attention to another resource we have available – funds that can help your church meet the minimum salary requirements known as “equitable compensation.” If your church qualifies, these funds can be instrumental in maintaining financial stability. I have also posted the application for these equitable compensation funds to this email.  Both must be submitted to the District Office.

If you have any questions or need further assistance regarding these funds, the application process, or any other matter, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in the District Office. We are here to support you and your congregation through these changes and challenges.

Thank you for your dedication to our ministry and your commitment to your congregation. Your leadership and resilience are greatly appreciated, and we are here to assist you in any way we can.

Blessings,

Rev Chip Bennett

Southern District Superintendent
